The Cleveland Furniture Bank (CFB) was formed in June 2006 as an outgrowth of a small furniture program operated by St. Vincent de Paul Society.  In 2008 St. Vincent de Paul closed its offices in Cleveland and CFB assumed responsibility for all of its assets and liabilities. Today CFB serves 325 agencies in Northeast Ohio that refer clients to receive basic home furnishings.  The mission is to provide furniture and mattresses to people in need who seek to establish a stable place to live.

Last year 2,733 clients were provided 10,211 pieces of furniture.  Additionally, CFB operates a Thrift Store that provides furniture, clothing and household goods to the working poor that cannot afford to shop at retail outlets.  Each year the store serves over 40,000 customers.

CFB’s newest campaign is the “Beds for Cleveland Kids” program. Through referrals from agency partners, the CFB helps over 3,000 Northeast Ohioans who are starting out or starting over by supplying them with basic home furnishings to make a house a home. Of the people helped annually, over 1,000 are children, most under the age of 12. This year, the CFB has expanded its mission by supplying every child in each of the referral families a twin bed.
